Dylan RiverdaleTattoo Artist, Piercer, Permanent Make-Up Artist and Body Modification Artist
Dylan has been working in the industry since 1998, first as a piercer. While gaining experience as a full body piercer, Dylan obtained his certifications in both Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, and Avionics Engineering. Although his formal education satisfied his love of aircrafts and need for knowledge relating to them, he felt as though something was missing from his life. Dylan grew up in an artistic family, where his grandmother taught art, critiquing his earliest works with a keen eye, and was a contributor to the First Nations art exhibit at the Museum of Human History (formally called the Museum of Civilization). So, when presented with an opportunity to dip his toes further into the body modification industry with a tattoo apprenticeship, in 2010 he made the choice to pursue tattooing full time, and has been doing so ever since. Dylan's natural abilities as an artist, and eye for structure and conceptualization, have enabled him to become a great tattoo artist. Creating custom tattoo art is where his abilities truly shine. Dylan has a friendly disposition, and is able to take a client's most basic ideas to transfer them into permanent works of flesh art. |
Lulu RiverdaleManager, Laser Technician, Piercing Apprentice
Lulu is the brains of the operation. Every tattoo artist needs a support system to ensure that the business portion of their practice runs smoothly. Her brain operates in numbers and patterns, and she was instrumental is establishing 13 Black Cats Studio as a private business, where it was formally a commercial corporation. The reduction in overhead costs are trickled down to the clients, which meant that shifting to a more eco-conscious model did not affect client's costs, despite the drastic rise in cost of materials. She is the laser technician, utilizing both of the lasers at 13 Black Cats Studio; the IPL for hair removal, and the Picosure (PicoSecond) laser for tattoo removal. She also provides RF (Radio Frequency) treatments for skin tightening and cellulite reduction, as well as injury healing/scar tissue reduction. Her knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and math are utilized in her functions as a laser technician. For more information on what services our lasers may assist you with, please see the Laser tab. Lulu is also apprenticing to be a full body piercer, so that 13 Black Cats studio can provide clients the choice of a competent female practitioner for more intimately placed piercings. |
OUR COMMITMENT TO MAKING TATTOOING MORE ECO-FRIENDLY
The amount of single use plastic products used in the tattoo industry weighed heavily on our conscience.
In order to do our part in keeping plastic out of landfills, we have replaced many of our single use plastic sundries with compostable alternatives, including:
-Compostable Surface Barrier Film (Cling Wrap)
-Compostable Bed Liners
-Paper Pulp or Wheat Straw Fiber Ink Cups (the small cups that tattoo pigments are poured into)
-Biodegradable Single Use Razors
-EBT Nitrile Gloves (Biodegradable in 1 to 5 years)
Even the plastic casing for our tattoo needle cartridges are made from corn-based plastic! Meaning they do not emit any fumes or gasses when incinerated; the by products of this process are simply carbon dioxide and water. Despite the costs of these products being 3 to 10 times that of their traditional plastic counterparts, we have not let our decision to use them impact the cost to our clients and have chosen to absorb the costs into our operations' bottom line.
We felt that the decision to make an eco-conscious choice should not be influenced by affordability nor cost to our clients.
