Ear Lobe and Outer Rim Cartilage Piercing

Ear lobe and rim piercings have many names including Helix, Cartilage, Forward, Flat, etc

Projections connecting two of these piercings are commonly called Industrial piercings and quite often have great difficulty healing due to the friction caused by connecting two distant points through soft tissue with a rigid bar. 

Two Ear Piercings that are connected with a single hoop through both holes, is commonly called an Orbital. These types of projections
typically have better viability than Industrial piercings because the points being connected are closer together and experience less movement and friction causing irritation. 

We do not offer ear piercing on babies. We feel all people should have a right to autonomy over their own bodies, that they should be able to fully consent to procedures, and that ear piercing is not a medical need nor a personal choice a parent should impel on  their newborn child.

Although we are of the opinion that ear piercing booths/retail stores offering ear piercing by untrained workers is the greater of two evils, we would prefer not to compromise our values in a vain attempt to prevent the latter.

Inner Ear Cartilage Piercing

Piercings to the inner areas of the ear cartilage include Daith, Rook, Snug, Tragus, Anti-Tragus, Conch.

These piercings can be a little trickier to perform in a manner that is well placed, and and also aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to wear. Careful consideration must be taken in regards to jewelry selection, and execution method, for a smooth and comfortable procedure to take place.

Nostril Piercing

Nostril piercing has been practised in Middle-Eastern culture for over 4000 years, and also has roots in India. This simple, yet elegant piercing has only more recently gained momentum and acceptance in western society. The piercing industry has built on tradition layering multiple piercings in a single nostril, and expanding on how jewelry can be made or worn. The options can be fashionable in any lifestyle or walk of life.

Septum Piercing

Similar to nostril piercing, septum piercing has roots in Early Middle East and India. The septum is the tissue in the middle of the nose that separates the nostrils. The area pierced between the cartilage and the fleshy sphincter muscle around the opening of the nostril. This sweet spot is small, but the tissue there is thinner and softer which results in a less painful experience and faster healing period. The Septum Piercing has been made more popular thanks to the influence of high profile adornments like BVLA and Anatometal, making the jewelry options more "classy" and delicate.

Navel Piercing

Navel Piercing can be dependent on anatomy. Not all navels lend themselves well to being pierced. Some are better placed above the navel, while others fare better on the underside.  No matter how it placed, it is a Pseudo-Surface Piercing* and poses a risk of rejection.

Properly cared for and placed piercings do offer a level of fashion and flexibility that many other types of piercing cannot. Navel Piercings can be easily hidden, or made visible and the selection of jewelry options are unparalleled.

Eyebrow Piercing

Eyebrow piercing has a relatively short history, its introduction to western culture arrived with the punk movement of the 1970s. Today it is a common, unisex fashion statement that seems to remain edgy, yet timeless.

Eyebrow piercings are a Pseudo-Surface Piercing*, and as such do pose risk of rejection. This can be mitigated with proper placement, jewelry and care.

Horizontal Eyebrow Piercing and Anti-Eyebrow Piercing should only be performed as a surface piercing.

Bridge Piercing

A Bridge Piercing or Earl Piercing is placed horizontally across the bridge of the nose. No cartilage or bone is pierced, but being a Pseudo-Surface Piercing* does make Bridge Piercings more prone to rejection.

Because the jewelry is in a highly centralized and visible area of the face, piercer competence is key. Even only slightly askew piercings are instantly noticeable.

Surface Piercing

Surface piercings are performed in areas that skin has no fold, cleft or change in direction. The jewelry is designed in a way that resists rejection by pulling itself into the body and using holes through the base to allow scar tissue to grow through and hold onto. This type of piercing can be kept long term, but in our experience never fully "heals" and is always susceptible to irritation caused by trauma or irritation. Jewelry and execution play a vital role in the viability and long term success of a surface piercing.

*Pseudo-Surface Piercings are still surface to surface piercings. However, a fold, cleft, or change in direction of tissue provides more stability to keep the piercing in place. If careful attention is paid to anatomy and how the tissue rests, flexes and moves, a curved barbell type jewelry can often be placed and heal with positive results. Sometimes once healed, hoop or ring type jewelry can be worn short term, but it is never recommended for initial healing or long term wear.

Lip Piercing

Lip piercings cover a wide range of piercing around the mouth that cross both dry tissue and a mucous membrane. These types of piercings require some extra care while healing, but with basic attention are generally easy to maintain.

Lower Lip Piercing accessorized with a hoop can be placed in the centre of the median, to one side, or grouped in pairs such as Snake Bites, Shark Bites, Dolphin Bites, and so on.
Many different animal attacks happen in and around the mouth, which is where these piercings earned their names.

Same can be said with “Studs or Bars”, in addition to a Labret Piercing, which is commonly placed lower than a standard lip piercing and often centred. Lower placement is commonly called a Lowbret Piercing, and requires special attention to placement and jewelry selection.

Upper Lip piercings commonly don’t utilize hoop jewelry, as it is less comfortable and can interfere with chewing and speech. However, placement is similar with Philtrum Piercing (also called a Medusa Piercing) in direct centre of the upper lip, and Madonna Piercing, Monroe Piercings are placed on either side.

Alternatively, a shallow lip piercing that enters at the wet/dry line and exits just below the vermillion border is called a Vertical Labret, and a Jestrum Piercing is on the top lip. When a Lip piercing exits the body of the lip it’s called an Ashley Piercing.

Corners of the mouth, Dahlia Piercings, and Cheek Piercings are not commonly long term viable piercings. Due to the amount of tissue punctured and constant movement of chewing and talking, they often fail to fully heal and result in significant scar tissue.

Tongue Piercing

Tongue Piercing appears to pass through the muscle tissue of the body of the tongue. Unknown to many, the tongue is actually two separate muscles with only a thin layer of tissue connecting them at the centre. The piercing passes between the muscles through the soft connective tissue, making for a relatively painless experience.

The muscle tissue carries nerves, salivary glands and major blood vessels,  so piercing other areas of the tongue (Such as "Venom Piercings" or Horizontal Tongue Piercing), is highly discouraged. Muscle also attributes higher levels of flexing and movement, preventing settling and healing of these type of piercing.

Web and Frenulum Piercing

Sometimes called a Smiley Piercing,​ where the top lip webbing or Frenulum is pierced. A Frownie Piercing is placed on the bottom lip webbing/frenulum. It is also called a Scrumpy or Scrumper Piercing.

Piercing the Frenulum on the underside of the tongue is generally known as a Web Piercing.

  • We do not pierce babies’ ears. Studio age minimums: Ear lobe 4+; Cartilage/Nostril/Septum 12+; Lip, Tongue, Navel, Eyebrow 16+. ALL other piercings 18+.
  • Health & Safety: We use single-use sterile needles only (no piercing guns). Arrive sober (no alcohol/recreational drugs 24h prior). Tell us about medical conditions, medications, or allergies.
  • Jewelry Standards: Implant-grade jewelry for initial piercings (ASTM F136 titanium) or solid 14k gold. We cannot install unknown/low-quality jewelry in fresh piercings.
  • Appointments & Deposits: Appointment-only. Deposits may be required and applied to your service. Please arrive on time; late arrivals may be rescheduled. Pricing: most piercings $60 + jewelry.
  • Aftercare & Follow-ups: You’ll receive aftercare instructions. Book a quick check-in for downsizing/upsizing jewelry during healing. Troubleshooting and jewelry changes are by appointment.
